RWM is responsible for implementing the government policy for the long term management of higher activity radioactive waste. This means RWM is the prospective developer of a geological disposal facility, which will be a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. RWM also has a role to support waste management organisations throughout the UK by providing disposability advice for higher activity wastes already packaged or planned to be packaged and placed in interim storage until the geological disposal facility becomes available.
