Sellafield Ltd remains a leading proponent of apprenticeships within the nuclear sector and the North West region. Over the past 67 years, Sellafield Ltd has trained more than 10,500 apprentices, which has helped ensure it has a pipeline of suitably qualified and experienced (SQEP) people to meet the evolving mission over the coming decades. Currently, apprenticeships are available across all levels from level 2 through to level 7, with this procurement covering level 2-6 for new start apprentices Sellafield Ltd had a total of 515 apprentices in December 2020, representing 4.5% of payroll headcount (this excludes graduates, Agency Support Workers or Contract Support Workers). Annual recruitment of apprentices across all schemes does fluctuate due to changing business needs – 203 apprentices were recruited in 2020 compared to 202 apprentices in 2019. 77% form part of new recruitment pipelines with the remainder delivering a progression route from the Level 5 pathways. There is a requirement to refresh the Sellafield workforce and its skills base. Apprentice programmes, from Level 2 to Level 6 are required to support this. These apprenticeship deliveries will be required onsite at Sellafield and Warrington Sites. There is a requirement for a multi-supplier framework split by specialism and geography. Multiple lots to cover the required scope over a 4 year period with the opportunity to extend by 2 further years on a +1+1 basis. The intention is to utilise the CCS dynamic purchasing system marketplace for Apprenticeship Training (RM6102) to build supplier portfolios, with the tendering being ran via the CTM system.
