The Ponds Complex at Trawsfynydd comprises around 35 different buildings which were used for the storage and treatment of spent fuel rods and the storage and processing of radioactively contaminated waste materials. These buildings are to be demolished in the period 2024-2026 with the concrete/masonry arisings placed within various voids within the complex. The design of the project is primarily being undertaken in-house by Magnox but there are a number of specialist professional engineering services which will require to be provided by external consultants. These services will be required in a spasmodic manner and those items listed in the scope below may or not be actually required and equally other additional unlisted services may be required. The consultant will be required to demonstrate a capability to provide not only those services listed but also those allied services which may be likely required to enable Magnox to deliver the demolition project. It is recognised that some of the indicated services may not be supplied by the consultant’s own resources and details of established sub-consultants to undertake specialist roles would be acceptable. Magnox have developed a ‘Revit’ model of the Ponds Complex of some sophistication and this will be made available to the consultant to develop and utilise in the delivery of some of the specialist services. Any development of this model by the consultant will need to be shared with Magnox.
