    • protection of exclusive rights, including intellectual property rights
Explanation
The intellectual Property Rights of the equipment, hardware and software rests with PaR therefore it is not possible to compete the maintenance requirement in line with Directive 2014/24/EU. Due to technical reasons to introduce a new supplier would have a disproportionate cost as existing equipment would need to be replaced. This would also require plant to cease operations for a considerable length of time whilst the equipment was replaced therefore temporarily stopping the high Hazard risk reduction activities performed at Sellafield Ltd.
