The supply and regeneration of granulated activated carbon (GAC) contained within 9 mobile filter units at the Magnox Harwell Groundwater Plant, to manage chemical contamination of groundwater. There are 9 MFU's at the plant, with each holding 15m3 of GAC. This supplies and servicing requirement is to provide a regular exchange programme of the filter units and to supply regenerated carbon to each filter unit at the time of exchange. The service requirement includes collection of 2 MFU's at each scheduled exchange, transportation to the regeneration facility and return of 2 MFU's to the ground water plant facility within 1-2 working days from the collection date. The collection date to be within 3 working days of Magnox notification that an exchange is required. The supplier is required to ensure that after regeneration, the GAC filter medium is capable of a maximum design flow rate of 2,000 m3/d through the groundwater plant.

The supply & regeneration service of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) & transportation of mobile filter units (MFU's) to/from the Groundwater Plant at Harwell Site & the Supplier's treatment site. The Supplier must have experience and hold the appropriate Environmental Permits & Licenses. The Supplier must be able to support a turn-around service of 2 MFU's within 3 days of collection and treat 15m3 of GAC within each unit. The GAC filter medium must allow 2000m3/d through the groundwater plant.
